One of the best parts of living in Paris as an expat is meeting fellow expats, each of us on our own unique journey. For a moment, our paths cross and the world becomes a little smaller and more familiar. This is how I felt when I met photographer Elizabeth Young, as we shared tales of living and working in NYC, in the same Lower East Side neighborhood even. Given my love for photography, I immediately turned my attention to Elizabeth’s personal work and how she manages to balance her career between Paris and New York. As is often the case with creative minds, weeks later she was at my home office collaborating on a photography project.
My office is where I spend many hours of the day, in between running to my manufacturer and client meetings. This is my haven, where I work on new designs, fill orders, write… Actually, my desk was the first purchase made for our new apartment. Love at first sight! It certainly serves its purpose.
Both Elizabeth and I are doing what we love. She is continuing to find her inspiration behind the lens, and I am creating, both in the form of bags and with words. As the new year approaches, what is your dream? To live in Paris, Buenos Aires, Tokyo? To start a new career? To travel? Leave a comment below, I’d love to hear from you. You’ll also be entered to win a Kasia Dietz bag of your choice. As an additional bonus, take 30% off all my bag collections from now until December 15th with the code: HOLIDAYS.
I love to travel. In 2016 I made my first visit to Paris and I loved it! I can’t wait to return. But first, New Zealand in 2017.
New Zealand is amazing! Some of the most beautiful natural landscapes I’ve ever seen. Enjoy your travels!
Wonderful desk! My dream for 2017 is to finish my book and send it to publishers (fingers crossed) and to spend some time in Paris.
Thanks Darina! The desk is the first piece of furniture I found for our new apartment, I fell in love! Good luck with your book and Paris plans for 2017. Everything is possible 🙂
My dream is to live fearlessly and accept my path, wherever next year leads. 🙂
That is a beautiful dream my dear friend. I wish for you all that your heart desires. I look forward to our paths crossing in 2017!
I found you on the instagram. I love your wonderful pictures and posts through which I can have a bit of insight into the parisian way of living! Thank you! I’m actually planning to start my 2017 in Paris with a couple of friends. We are all very excited for that. It’s going to be the best New Year’s Eve. This for the start. Later on, I’m going to graduate my university and try to get to the airlines cabin crew. This would be my dream way to travel the world. Living in Dubai and being everyday in a different part of the world. Having the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and see the most beautiful places that our planet has in offer. Tokio, Beijing, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, London, New York.. I just want to see them all. Life is short so fingers crossed. Wish you all the best for the 2017. xoxo
Nice to ‘meet’ you Bernadete! What exciting plans for 2017! Paris is the perfect setting to start the new year. Love your dream of traveling the world, these are the experiences we carry with us forever. It’s true that life is short and we must follow our dreams. Wishing you the best of luck!
My dream already came true. I tried for four years to become a mom and in 2016 it finally came true. My new dream is to be the best mother I can be and to teach my son to never give up on your dreams, they do come true.
I’m so happy for you Maria! The most beautiful dream, you and your son are truly blessed.
Love your pic by the desk!
My dream is to have a little time off.. from everything! Sometimes living life to the full, every day like it’s the best, especially for the kids, is pretty tiring. I think Robin Williams has a lot to answer for. Carpe Diem is exhausting. So my dream, is first to get a few days to rest, then to get back to Buenos Aires, Bangkok and Bali… and everywhere else, with the kids in tow so they can see it too. And why not Tokyo – my son wants to go and who am I to say ‘no’? Long term, the dream is to get out of the city and own more than one home (I know, greedy) and flit between them without a care in the wold, and without having to worry about earning a living, while the kids blossom into lovely, independent, happy, smart, funny, caring citizens of the world! Not asking much, right? You did say “dream”…
Sounds like a reasonable dream to me! You’re on your way with one beautiful home and many travels already under your belt. Hoping you have some time off in the new year and can travel with the kids sometime in the near future. I’m happy to join you while you’re flitting around…
Dear Kasia, I love your estetics, your eye for color and shape. My dream was to be a fashion designer, I was even accepted to Pratt in NY City but my parents didn’t want to be alone in a new country. We just arrived from Poland two years prior to that. Oh well. I’m so happy to see you living your dream. Happy Holidays dear Oasis. From Regina and Ola
Dear Regina, Thanks so much for your kindness and support! I’m sorry your dream didn’t come true, but it’s never too late to start another project. I well understand you, being Polish myself. May you find peace and happiness in the new year! Pozdrowienia!
I love to travel and explore new places. But I always go back to Paris. Paris is my soul city and at the end of this month I will be returning there to live. This has always been my dream, to live there permanently.
How happy to hear that you’re coming back to your soul city! Paris does possess something very unique. We are lucky to live here!
Love the bags I have from your collection, and look forward to your new designs! Hope to see you in Paris in 2017…happy holidays!
Happiest of holidays to you too, Kathryn! See you in Paris in 2017!
I would love to travel around the world and concentrate on places that are out of the way! However, Paris will always be one of my top places that I will always want to go back to!! One of our best memories from our trip to Paris in 2014 was spending the afternoon at one of your bag classes! Both my daughter and I use the bags we made all the time! Happy Holidays Kasia and all the best for 2017!
It was a pleasure meeting you and your daughter in Paris! So good to hear you are using your bags. Hope to see you again in Paris in the future. Happiest of holidays to you too, Cecily!
