Anyone who knows me, or reads my blog, knows that my mom means the world to me. A world she now shares with my Italian. My well-traveled maman has been to Paris many a time, beginning when my Dad swooped her away to the city of lights on their honeymoon. Little did my mom know she would return many years later to walk the same streets with her daughter. Like father like…
And so in the space of ten days (with a quick trip to London inbetween) my mom became a local and I became a tourist. Happily so! And in so doing we created our own Paris postcards.
Certainly in these Indian summer days my mom’s love for Paris has grown. How could it not? London will always be her city, like NY will be mine. But she too now has a home in the city of lights.
What a sweet post, Kasia! Looks like you and your mom had some wonderful moments together. She’s adorable!
Thanks Lindsey! I can’t wait for her to return!
Wow! If the experience was half as lovely as the story and the photos, I can see why you’re so close!
Thanks Paul. I mostly grew up with only my mom so she is VERY special to me!
I have always enjoyed your blog, and this is one of my favorite posts. I love that your mom went on her honeymoon to Paris and that you went to the same restaurant as your parents did long ago. To me, that is one of the magical things about Paris – it is the same in the present as it is in memories. Ahhh… I can’t wait for my next trip. It hasn’t even been a year and I am aching to return…
Happy to hear you enjoy reading my blog! This post is a special one. Hope you will make it back to Paris soon…
You brought up such a good point about the ‘romance’ of Paris, how things rarely change and you can come back in time and feel the same sentiments. (Almost)
Omigoodness, could your mom be any cuter?! It looks like an amazing trip – so glad you guys shared these beautiful days together!
Just like our many days of carousing NYC… just a little farther to travel! Thankfully the weather was PERFECT.
Incredibly touching that you were able to dine together at a restaurant where your parents had shard a meal. Beautiful, and I imagine, very emotional at the same time.
I kept thinking about my mom being there with my dad, how he wined and dined her and introduced her to his favorite bistros, cafes, bookshops… really felt like stepping back in time!
How lovely…your Mom is adorable!
Thanks Susan! She’s not only adorable, but multi-talented, very wise and has the kindest heart of anyone I know.
so glad your maman made it there for such a fantastic visit! what a lovely post!
Thanks my dear! A post for you awaits! 😉
Absolutely lovely.
My mom visited with us in April. Sure, we’re in a different city — we live in Nice — but we did make it to Paris for a few days. But it’s not the location, is it? It’s the relationship and the memories that result. This post brings me back to April. Thank you for sharing it with us.
It is absolutely the relationship and the time spent, regardless of where you are in the world. Hope you and your mom created many lovely memories too!
How wonderful that your mom was able to see Paris with you. My first trip was with my daughter and 5 year old granddaughter. Very special memories.

I feel much more at home having had my mom visit. Lovely memories indeed.
